We are a small neighborhood drugstore located at 126 Main Street in Grove Hill, Alabama. We offer traditional prescription services in a comfortable and clean environment. At The Medicine Chest, we make it our goal to meet the special healthcare needs of our community in a courteous and confidential manner.
Allen and Kate Jordan opened The Medicine Chest in April of 1997. The pharmacy was originally located on South Jackson Street in Grove Hill. A soda fountain was built with beautiful hand-painted murals depicting the early 1920's.
In the fall of 2010, the Jordans decided to relocate to Main Street in downtown Grove Hill. The Gordon building was the perfect location for the Jordans to bring their much-loved soda fountain to downtown. Once construction began on the interior of the building, the original ceiling from the early 1900's was discovered. The beautiful metal ceiling and stamped molding were in excellent condition. Old schoolhouse lights were installed to resemble those of the 1920's. The nostalgic soda fountain was mounted, and the pharmacy was open for business in October 18, 2010. What a joy it has been to "bring life to Main Street." Hopefully others will follow and restore more historic buildings in Grove Hill.
